Junior anglers 16 years and younger will have another chance to register for the Texas International Fishing Tournament’s (TIFT) Catch a Redfish Educational Scholarship (CARES) at the All Valley Boat Show Feb. 7-9.
The program was launched at the 74th TIFT on Aug. 2, 2013 and runs through July 6, 2014. Registered junior anglers will have the chance to catch tagged redfish in the Laguna Madre Bay and compete for $10,000 scholarships. The first five tagged reds caught by registered anglers will each receive a $10,000 scholarship. For complete rules information, visit the TIFT website at www.tift.org.
“Since this is a new program for our tournament, we wanted to give young people another chance to register,” said TIFT CARES Committee Chairman Jimmy Lawson. “Forming an alliance with the All Valley Boat Show to promote this unique opportunity seemed like a perfect partnership. We would love to present the five $10,000 scholarships in our first program year and encourage young anglers to pursue their love of fishing.”
Registration fees for juniors 12 and under are set at $20 and $35 for juniors 13-16 years. Promotional TIFT CARES T-shirts will be presented to the first 100 juniors to register at the All Valley Boat Show.
