2016_TIFT Awards Twenty-nine $2000 Scholarships in 2016The Executive Board of the Texas International Fishing Tournament is pleased to announce that it has awarded annual scholarships of $2000 per recipient to 29 outstanding young people.  According to Scholarship Committee Chairperson Carrie Buchen, “The Executive Board is thrilled to announce a record number of scholarship awards for 2016.  Each of our recipients were selected on the basis of personal tournament involvement, volunteer efforts, grades and financial need.”  The following scholarship recipients will each receive $2,000 towards tuition, books, lab fees and other direct expenses at the state accredited college of their choice.  Shown above are several of the scholarship recipients who were able to attend the most recent Advisory Board meeting held June 11 at Louie’s Backyard on South Padre Island.

The 2016 scholarship recipients include:

-          Natalie Bothwell, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Tim and Heather Bothwell, will be a Freshman at Texas A&M University studying Political Science.

-          McKenzie Brunnemann, daughter of Mark and Melody Brunnemann, will be a Junior at Texas A&M University studying Marketing/International Business.

-          Foley Bunk, son of Craig Bunk, will be a Freshman at Baylor studying Business.

-          Felicia Calo, daughter of Philip Calo and the late Vicki Calo of Laguna Vista, will be a Freshman at The University of Texas at Austin studying Psychology.

-          Estee Combs, daughter of Lisa and Brett Combs, will be a Sophomore at the University of Oklahoma studying Psychology.

-          Hunter Douglas, son of David and Patience Douglas, will be a Freshman at Texas A&M Kingsville studying Wildlife Management.

-          Bailey Dunks, daughter of James and Melinda Dunks, will be a Senior at Sul Ross State University studying Natural Resource Management – Wildlife Management.

-          Carsten Flores-Hansen, son of Frances Douglass and Tommy Hansen, will be a Sophomore at UTSA studying Medical Humanities.

-          Theodore Green, son of Ted and Terri Green, will be a Freshman at Texas A&M University studying Biochemistry.

-          Hannah Greer, daughter of Bill and Tammi Greer, will be a Freshman at Texas A&M University studying Allied Health.

-          Jared Guerrero, son of Lisa Guerrero, will be a Junior at Texas A&M university studying Gist/Geology.

-          Carley Hagar, daughter of Curtis and Terrie Hagar, will be a Sophomore at Texas A&M University studying Biomedical Sciences.

-          Chelsea Magouirk, daughter of Mark and Sandy Magouirk, will be a Senior at Texas State Technical College studying Dental Hygiene.

-          Alison Magouirk, daughter of Mark and Sandy Magouirk, will be a Junior at Texas A&M University studying Allied Health.

-          Emma Manning, daughter of Brent and Suzanne Manning, will be a Senior at University of Texas at Austin studying Public Relations and Business.

-          John Martinez, son of Rodolfo and Veronica Martinez, will be a Freshman at Texas A & M University Corpus Christi studying Marine Biology.

-          Rafe Matz, son of Frank and Alisa Matz, will be a Junior at Texas A&M studying Business.

-          Emily McKinney, daughter of Camden and Sandra McKinney, will be a Junior at Texas A&M University studying Agricultural Communications and Journalism.

-          Megen Mikulik, daughter of Gene and Melissa Mikulik, will be a Freshman at Texas A&M University studying Sports Broadcasting.

-          Bailey Miller, daughter of James and Becky Miller, will be a Senior at Texas A&M studying Business- Marketing.

-          Makayla Moss, daughter of Talia Maddock, will be a Senior at Texas Tech University studying Business.

-          Alexis Pinkerton, daughter of Robert and Veronica Pinkerton, will be a Sophomore at UTSA studying Communications.

-          Alexa Ray, daughter of Bryan & Mary Ray, will be a Junior at The University of Texas at Austin studying Radio-Television-Film and Sociology.

-          Cory Richards, daughter of Mr & Mrs Travis Richards, will be a Freshman at Texas A&M University, College Station studying Kinesiology.

-          Katy Richards, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Travis Richards, will be a Senior at Texas A&M University, College Station studying International Studies & Spanish.

-          Madeline Rowe, daughter of Carrie Buchen and Dr. James Rowe, will be a Junior at Texas State University studying Education.

-          Richard Tarpey, son of Stephanie and Richard Tarpey, will be a Sophomore at Texas A&M University studying Petroleum Engineering.

-          Christian Torres, son of Daniel and Perla Torres, will be a Freshman at Texas State University studying Mechanical Engineering.

-          Myranda Woolly, daughter of Craig Woolly and Sandy Broadway, will be a Senior at Texas A&M University studying Biomedical Sciences.
